FAQ1.      Who is Toy Minister?
Toy Minister is a toy design and production company that creates and produces unique, lifestyle design-oriented products.

TM is run by Luk Chee Chew, design director of Fusionwave, www.fusionwave.net.my  , who was also our ex-colleague.

2.      What is Dweey?
Dweey is a brand created by Luk Chee Chew from Fusionwave, 2005.
The brand started from a little cartoon character and slowly turns into a designer vinyl toy design company.
To know more about dweey : www.dweey.com/

3.
What is the Talk all about?
Designers talk about making toy or own design item, but many don’t find the right way.
The sharing session talks about “Toy-business”
from Creation, Production to Marketing/ Branding.
Luk is one of the very rare Malaysia designer who make it out on the market. Definitely very helpful to our students.

Your tools: Your imagination. Style it, glam it and add your touch of creative magic.

5.

Hey guys and girls, this is the list of characters that we thought of and also the person who is going to the characters.

The Good Guys/Rebels/"The People's Republic of Chinea"

1. The chief - Keith
2. The assistant-in-command - Kai lee
3. The hero - Kelvin
4. The heroine - Wen Wen
5. The good spy - Jaslynn
6. The common soldier - Chen Liang
7. The strong good guy -Johnson
8. The scientist - Keen Fai
9. The sharpshooter - Leon
10. The priest - Wen Kang
11. The technician - Yoon Hin
12. The traitor of the bad guy who became a good guy - Vivien

The Bad Guys/Government/Malaysia

1. The emperor - Liu Hu
2. The enemy advisor- Chee Kong
3. The enemy hero - Wang Kai
4. The enemy heroine - Shin
5. The enemy spy - Zi Jie
6. The common enemy soldiers - Jack
7. The strong enemy - Zhe Hui
8. The mad scientist - Shaz
9. The specialist (e.g. CIA/FBI/MI6/FF7 turks) - Ah Loo
10. The cultist - Jordan
11. The technician - Hor Yee
12. The traitor of the good guy who became a bad guy - Felicia

If anyone of you want to change roles, for the good guys please inform Johnson who you are switching with and for the bad guys, please inform Chee Kong who you are switching with.

Just a rough brief. each character has its opposite (e.g. The Enemy Advisor vs. The Assistant-in-Command) so when you start thinking of ideas you guys can pair up.

Remember the good guys are sort of like guerrila fighters/robin hood and the bad guys has the luxury of resources. And also, PERSONALITY/LINE OF ACTION is most important.

The next meeting will be this Friday after Illustration 1 so please stay back. Please bring your sketches/sillhoutte/initial ideas to discuss. Be free to think of as many ideas as possible as we will only begin to narrow the focus of the designs on Friday.

I know its quite a tight timetable but we all need to work together for this so let's try our best.

Thanks and all the best.

Hey guys and girls, its already our holiday already actually and I know most of us have already taken our foots off the gas but I just want to advice you all not to do so just yet! I need two things from you all.

Firstly, please pass me your Typo book covers A.S.A.P. Send it to my email YUNAFREAK@GMAIL.COM

Secondly, for those of you have any works that are graded B and above in Life Drawing class, please bring it tomorrow and pass it to Hoean/Gan

Thats all. Don't forget to put effort in your Illust Fund! One last push and we are free! All the best.

Attention CGPP- Johnson

Forgot to remind you guys, I got the prints d. But the files, I still dont know how to give it to you guys, so.. Check yourselves bahh if no choice.

The printing is rm33 per person. the extra 3 ringgit is for printing another two sets of a4 reference and..hrmm.. its ok i'll explain in class if you're interested. =.=

But, about the printing. Only me and ming yang kena some problem. The rest are still ok.

Ming Yang, tomorrow, ck and I will go find helena and see see how to sort out the problem.

So. Good luck.

Attention CGPP

For those who submitted their cgpp_p1 bookmark to me:

Cheng Zhun Hao
Chen Yang
Choo Chen Liang
Ding Wen Wen
Kon Lee Fen
Lim Chuan Shin
Lim Zhen Wei
Lucas Fong
Ng Wen Kang
Siew Zi Jie
Tang Ming Yang
Tan Han Yi
Tan Kai Lee
Thye Zhe Hui
Wang Kai
Wong Huan Qin
Woon IrVin
Yee Yoon Hin

I have rechecked your artworks, and did some final adjustment/error correction.

I have deleted stray points/created outlines/changing die cut+cropmarks to pantone and adjusted the registration black crop marks. (Because most of you all arent using registration black for the crop marks.) and some other minor arrangement.

SO PLEASE. Bring your thumbdrive/ external hardisc/memory cards/ to me during tuesday's class, and get the corrected files from me, bring it home, recheck again.

Layers, cropmarks, diecut, colors, so on so on.
This is very important, i solved some of your problems, and i tried my best to save your scores, and now the rest is up to you boys and girls to check again for yourself.

If you're confident that you absolutely had the bookmark done correctly, then ignore this post and tak perlu get the corrected files from me.
But in this case, almost all of you have some minor problems. So its a big recommend that you guys get the files from me. And check if I missed out any little details.

And the printing is rm30, so i'll be refunding the rm20 to you all on tuesday.

Johnson.
0

Attention please.

For those who are still awake and lucky enough to see this post.

I'll be at K1, friday (tomorrow) from 12pm onwards. Please submit your work to me before our illustration fund. class starts. Cause I dont wanna create chaos when jackee is around.

And don't drag. Please finish it, check it and pass it to me exact on time. I don't want last minute editing in the class, I'm combining our prints with ad-2's, its not good to keep other people waiting for us.

So, no delay, or else you eat yourself.

Tmr morning, go atm, take out rm50, then giv it to me with your file altogether, and yes, for sure there's a refund. If you can't pay rm50, talk to me.

*REMEMBER TO PUT YOUR NAME, PHONE NUMBER, ID, CLASS* and create outlines.

Please spread the word.

Paperworks: Marks and Trails of Artistic Minds

Hi, guys, I'm planning to have a road trip to the exhibition that Gan introduced to us today during Life Drawing class. I'm planning to go this Wednesday after the critique session with Gabriel. I will be driving so I can have 4 people with me. If anyone of you are interested please drop your name in the chatbox -----> or drop me an sms @ 012-2107797.

If you are interested in going and have a car to spare and don't mind driving, it would be great as well so that more of us can go. I really suggest that we go because its going to be great to see how ideas are born and as we know from Gabriel, the idea and concept is more important in the end. Plus, we can also go and support "god" aka Gan.

I'm trying to find a way to reach there by public transport as an alternative so that many of us can go. However, I only suggest this as a backup plan because its going to take very long to get there by public transport.

That is why it is very important to confirm with me so we can arrange some extra cars.

http://www.galerichandan.com/page72/page72.html here is the link to the site.

I hope you all can spread this news to everyone in class so that everyone gets to know about this!!!

P.S : Oh, I suggest we bring our own sketchbook or cameras to steal some skills from the masters!! lol

CGPP Assignment 2

Here's something you guys should note about the SONY logo that
we have to trace out into an EPS format.

It's ridiculously small.

When you zoom in, it's very pixelated,
so you're recommended to find a better one.

(Not sure whether this is allowed, actually.)

Just in case, I've found one, though.

Please drop a message or notify me personally if you have any other  information regarding
this project.

Life Drawing 101

As per requested by CK,
I'll be posting up what God (Gan) said during Life Drawing recently.

Stuff to bring for class:

Newsprint (better to share amongst one another due to its size...)

Charcoal pencil / 8B pencil (choose lah, or buy both.)

2 Large Clips. (kiap kiap.)

Tips:
-Do not render the studies for life sketches too much.
-Study the 'true form' of the body, ignoring details like the clothes stripes, etc.

Preferred timing:
1. Line of Action: 1-2 min
2. Volume Study: 5-10 min
3. Form Study: 5-10 min

People to look out for:
James Jean
Aldolph Menzel
Victor Ambrus

Well, that's all, for now.

*edits (johnson) added the clips reminder thingy.

Live from The Main Lobby

Alright, here's the latest update for the OTP results for our class,
IL0905-1.

Names that are listed:

None.

Yes everyone, I'm not joking.

XD

Classes will begin on the 10th of May,
while final results are expected to be out before then.

0

Breaking News (not really...)

Chee Kong had earlier went to TOA to check on the OTP results
(he beat me to it!)
and discovered that it is as Kai Lee has proclaimed,
that it will be released on the

23rd of April .

(sorry, Kai Lee...)

Don't ask me why they intend to post it so late.
The SRA Dept. still never ceases to amaze us, no?
0

Attention?

Okay guys,
for those of you who can't make it back here to check for your OTPs
or something,
I'll be heading to TOA itself this Wednesday, 14th of April.

So if you want me to check if your names are there
(hopefully they're not...)
just contact me on MSN or handphone,
or even post something in the class CBox, okay?

Cheers.
0

holiday

hey , guys , how is your holiday going ?

0

OTP *Dramatic Trumpet Sounds*

Okay, so being the rather forgetful little ferret that I am,
I forgot when the OTP will be released for us to see.

Thanks Han Sin for reminding me!

=D

Speaking of which, Han Sin himself requires someone to check the results for him
in case one of you are going.

You can contact him via MSN or by handphone.
Oh. and Facebook's an option too
(sorta...)

Any hesitation or inconvenience regarding the above arrangement, do feel free to contact me in advance.
We will look forward to see next week's progress.

Lisa and Bryan has decided to have 2 classes next week on the same day, one in the morning as usual and one in the afternoon the reason being that there is too many of us so it will be impossible to finish critique-ing all of us in 1 class. So the idea is that the class is split into half based on alphabetical order in the name list.

She mentioned that after your draft have been reviewed and finalize, you can leave the class so you are not required to stay for the whole class. I know this will create a bit of problem for some of you who are travelling from further distances to just come for a 15mins critique session and then go home. That is why I need some feedback from you on whether this arrangement is ok, especially for those who live far away.

So please spread the info to everyone (since i don't think everyone reads the blog) and inform them about this and also tell them to give me some feedback. You can leave your comments in the cbox, comment on this post, or you can drop me an SMS at 012-2107797 (if you choose to sms me, please include your name so I know who you are). Thanks for your time people, and I hope I can get your response soon.

P.S: Those who are blur blur about what you need to show her on Thursday, read the email I copy and pasted. She listed it out pretty clear, if still got problem, look for me. See you.

For Those of Us Who Drive To Classes

For your awareness so that we know the options to take better control come to such situation….

For those of you who often drive on the highway, the information in this video clip can save you and your family from the mishaps of an accident.
Tyre blow out during high speed is very dangerous and the pointer in this video on how to control your car at that moment is invaluable. Whether you are driving a Mercs or a Kancil, the effect is the same, as shown in the video. If it happens to the back wheel, it's not so bad. The warning is 'NEVER HIT YOUR BRAKES!'

1)  Tyres blow - DO NOT press the brake.

2)  Maintain your steering wheel, lift off your leg from the accelerator & let the car slow down on its own pace.

3) Once the car slow down, maintain slow brake bit by bit & drive to the side.

Crapinese

In an undisclosed location in KL(or Selangor. Dunno where Sunway is, exactly)

Zhe Hui: Eh, so what languages should we all speak for Culture tomorrow? Let's mix it up a lil'.

Jack: {Speaks Indian-ese (Tamil, lah)}

Germaine: I'll speak French! Bonjour chacun. Je suis ici pour présent aujourd'hui…

 After 5 minutes...(okay lah, 3 seconds)

Germaine: Leon! What language can you speak?

Leon: Well, I can speak Crapinese...

Laughs a-plenty for a plentiful time.

as a last resort to discuss about composition.

But...
none of them were in.

Any comments, folks?

What We're Gonna Go Through

I shit you not.
There's always one or two anomalies like these in this business.

0

Urgent

Does anyone remember what was Lisa's email
that we have to send her the Composition Analysis to?

So far, the email that I have with me is

liselle_lmw@yahoo.com

Is this the correct one?

Several have tried this one,
or other variations such as
'liselle-lmw@yahoo.com'
or something else.

And none of them exist.

Not sure, but please do post on the CBox if
you know any other variations that might work.

Thanks.

Credits go to Germaine & Shaz
for pointing out the email problems earlier.
